Starting Sunday, December 23, 2012:

Please read about our current Cryonics Charity fund-raising appeal for Mr. Aaron Winborn, a 45-year-old father of two small children who is suffering from a terminal illness. He has expressed the wish to be cryopreserved, and he is in need of help funding his suspension:

 A sample personal revival trust.

Why We Are Venturists:
Maybe life doesn’t have to be short.

Venturists are a principled, supportive community of like-minded individuals who believe that death doesn’t necessarily mean the end of life. Simply stated, we think that future technology could very possibly not only conquer disease and aging, but death itself.

While we fully understand that this technology doesn’t appear to be particularly close at hand, the impressive history of human problem solving and technological advancement gives us confidence in its inevitability.

Will this new technology exist in our lifetime?  Maybe. Or maybe not. The complexities of the human body are mindboggling. But that’s where “cryonics” comes in.

Cryonics, along with other emerging forms of human preservation, is central to the Venturist vision. It’s a practice in which the human body is cryopreserved at death, at extremely low temperatures, in an attempt to preserve it long-term with as little damage as possible. Then, the idea is to wait as long as it takes for the damage-reversing capability of future technology—a future technology as mindboggling as the human body itself.

Exhibit A: Nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is the manipulation of matter on an atomic and molecular level. Although it’s relatively new on the scene, it’s already a bona fide pursuit, with governments and businesses around the world investing billions of dollars in its research.

Nanotechnology, while already here, is almost unimaginable. What if someone had brought it up in conversation a hundred years ago? It’s a point we could also make with supercomputers, gene splicing and a slew of other relatively recent, fast-breaking scientific developments. Then, go back not so very long before that, and bring up the possibility of electricity, radio, television, planes, trains and automobiles. Add expected exponential scientific growth to the equation and it’s easy to see why we’re encouraged.

As Venturists, we love life. We think it’s worth living for a long time. Maybe forever. We’re interested in the best of human life. The best of the human heart. We think life can be even better than it is now. Better for everybody. We want to see what that better, more exciting future is going to be like. We want to help make it better than it’s ever been before. Better than one’s wildest imagination. And we’d like you all to be there with us. Think of us the next time you hear someone say, “Life is short.” Then contact us. Or better yet, do it today.
